2016Yom HaShoah Essay Contest Application
A high school junior or senior, who is Jewish. The student must be from the Chicagoland area graduating in the Spring of 2016 / 2017.
The student must write an essay on the following topic:
As a Jewish student looking down the road to college, how can you prepare
yourself to combat anti Semitism on the college campus.
The essay should be no more than 500-600 words.
Essays must be submitted by January 15, 2016 as a PDF to info@SheeritHaPleitah.com with the subject line “2016 Essay Contest”. Essays must have submitter’s contact information in the footer. The footer must include Name, address, email, and phone number
Award winners will be notified by March 28, 2016 and must acknowledge that they will be present at the Sheérit HaPleitah of Metropolitan Chicago annual Yom Hashoah ceremony which will be on May 8, 2016 from 1:00PM – 3:00PM.
Being at the ceremony is a requirement to be eligible for the award.
At the ceremony the first and second place winners will receive Israel Bonds in the amount $500 for first place and $250 for second place. Honorable mentions will be acknowledged as well. The first place award winner may be asked to read his/her essay at the Yom Hashoah ceremony which will be on May 8, 2016 .
The winning entries will be posted on the Sheerit HaPleitah website
All essays and related materials will be owned by Sheérit HaPleitah, and each person who submits an essay assigns, as part of such submission and for Sheérit HaPleitah’s consideration of such essay, all of his or her rights in such essay to Sheérit HaPleitah, including all copyrights and moral rights therein. Such essays may be used by Sheérit HaPleitah in its discretion in any media now known or hereafter developed, including its posting online. None of this material is plagiarized or infringes anyone else’s rights.
